Governance of infrastructures for transitions.
Infrastructures provide a basis for essential societal processes, making many infrastructures critical. Governance of infrastructures has long been aimed at a rather predictable development process. Public and private decision-making are tuned to following predictable trends. However, currently, transitions and disruptions are providing a new reality, with more uncertain futures. Still, investments for infrastructures structure the aforementioned societal processes for decades to come. Resilience, robustness, flexibility, are characteristics of new solutions, but governance of infrastructures often fixates the stakeholders on existing solutions. Changing governance is a key step into transitioning infrastructures to a more sustainable future.
