Dr Massimo Fiorentini is a Research Fellow at the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC) at University of Wollongong. He is a Mechanical Engineer; he obtained his Bachelors and Master’s Degree from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and was then employed at ABB as a Product Manager in the Low Voltage Products division.
He then joined Prof Paul Cooper at SBRC to continue his studies and obtained his PhD from University of Wollongong. During his PhD, he was a core member of Team UOW, winner of the Solar Decathlon China 2013 competition.
Massimo’s PhD research focused on the development, of advanced control and optimization strategies for building energy management. He was also awarded an additional scholarship from CSIRO, and collaborated with research scientists from the CSIRO Energy Centre on his research.
He then continued his career as a researcher at the SBRC, working on the development of an intelligent automatic natural ventilation system, in collaboration with an industrial partner as well as on development of SBRC’s experimental facilities. More recently he has been working on the development and integration of advanced embedded sensing units and controllers for buildings.
