Tim is Professor of Built Environment Foresight as well as Honorary Professor of Civil Engineering at University College London. He has spent most of his career developing and deploying innovative approaches to solve industrial problems, and has been corporate director of technology, innovation and sustainability at global engineering consultancies as well as a period running the civil engineering research company CIRIA.

Tim’s major current interests include digital engineering, infrastructure resilience and decision taking in a world of increasing uncertainty. Both a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the ICE, Tim is greatly respected in the industry. He is currently a Vice Chairman of the Construction Industry Council and a Director of both BuildingSmart (UK) Ltd and CEEQUAL Limited.

Tim became Vice President of the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2011, with particular responsibility for Public Voice and Policy. He is now President for 2016/7.
